I first began trying out the creation of our own Tortilla Chips about a year ago.  At that point I was totally against all the ‘fake’ ingredients so many chips in the store offered so I lavishly concocted our own and the story goes from there.  My kids love these snacking sensations and I love how easy they are to prepare.  I also have found that .99 a package is a really great snack to make and a few packs make plenty for our kids to snack on.  The benefit to my chips is the fact that you won’t find extra garbage in the ingredients and they are made fresh daily!  Lavishly live life out loud with me and test out this easy-to-make tortilla chip recipe, once you try it you will never buy chips again unless you are in a real pinch. When you are at your favorite store, purchase flour or corn tortillas, whichever you prefer.  In my home we buy a few of each because of food allergies and my kids.  Don’t forget to pick up non-stick spray(butter flavor or olive oil), sea salt, foil and your favorite nacho toppings. Gather the following ingredients: 1 bag of flour or corn tortillas(refrigerated or not there is no difference, just personal brand preference) Non Stick Spray (butter or olive oil flavor) Sea Salt Foil Lined Tray Cut each tortilla into wedges or strips.  Lay on a non-stick sprayed pan or a foil lined tray sprayed with non-stick spray.  Lightly spray each of the wedges/strips with spray and sea salt.  Bake at 400 for about 10 minutes. Flour tortillas cook more rapidly and tend to burn so watch them carefully.  Once them come out they are ready to eat.  Look for golden brown chips.  These are restaurant quality and a deliciously frugal snack. My preference is for the corn tortilla because it crisps up nicer and packs a more powerful crunch.  Flour tortillas burn a bit more easily and you really have to watch these as they bake.  We have found that preparing them on a STONE from Pampered Chef is the best way to create these, they turn out crisp every time. There is nothing like the crunch of a fresh tortilla chip or corn chip and when it comes from  your own oven they are even more delectable and fresh.  I love placing paper-lined baskets on the table, blasting our music and enjoying a few fresh drinks with this  treat.  Lavishly live life out loud with the simple preparation of these easy-to-prepare Tortilla Chips, your friends and family will thank you!
